About the project
Global site assessments conducted by Bombora over the last two years have confirmed the coast of Portugal as an ideal location for a full-scale mWave converter wave farm. Bombora is preparing for a staged installation of an mWave wave farm in Portugal commencing in 2017.
WavEC, a Portuguese based renewable marine energy organisation, has been engaged to assist with preparations for the mWave converter deployment. WavEC are assisting in the site approval process, environmental impact assessments and engagement with local suppliers.
Europe has a substantial focus on investment in marine renewables, making it an attractive location for Bombora to launch it’s first commercial wave farm. Several countries have established targets for wave power capacity to be installed by 2020 and have implemented policy and mechanisms to drive investments towards that aim.
